I started this blog to do what I love – write and create. Life happens and I’ve hardly blogged at all since starting two years ago. So, today I feel like starting with a little life update.
This has been one of my busiest seasons of life. Do you ever look back and think, “Wow, I thought I was busy back then”? Sometimes I laugh thinking about how much free time I used to have before Emmy, or before work, etc. But it’s beautiful how life keeps moving forward and your responsibilities grow, and also your joys and stresses. I’m sure I will feel similarly looking back on one baby vs. two.
Pregnancy
Hello third trimester, how did you come so quickly? I am officially 28 weeks pregnant with our sweet, baby boy. As far as symptoms go, I am exhausted and uncomfortable. Taking care of a toddler all day has made this pregnancy harder in a lot of ways. It’s hard to find time to rest. I also think it has made the time go by quicker. My first trimester was horrible, and that feels like a distant memory.
It took me a lot longer this time around to start buying things for baby. So far, I’ve bought mostly clothes (zipper sleepers are the best)! We are blessed to have most of what we need saved from Emmy, so a few things on my list to get are new linens, (crib sheets, washcloths, changing pad covers, etc.) a double monitor, diapers, wipes, and new bottle nipples for our glass bottles.
I have a Spectra Breast Pump still, so I’m planning to use my insurance coverage to get a wearable, portable pump this time. If you have one you have loved, please comment!
Also, as far as nursery furniture goes, we have decided to move all of Emmy’s furniture to the baby’s room. This was a decision we thought about for a long time. Essentially, Emmy is so close to moving to a big girl bed, that we might as well invest in her room instead of another crib. Also, her dresser is large and fits a changing pad perfectly.
I feel like we have a lot to accomplish in the next 12-ish weeks, but I am a lot more relaxed about having everything ready than I was with Emmy. Don’t get me wrong though, this mama is ready to nest.
We’re Moving
One reason nesting is a bit on hold is because we are moving soon! We bought our first home, and it will be ready by the end of February. I will do more home updates soon, but in the meantime, here is a picture of Emmy checking out her new loft.
I guess that’s all for today’s update. I will write again soon. Xoxo.
I loved reading all of this! So excited
about your house and baby boy! I love the Parker Baby Washcloths (white ones), and they are a Colorado company too.
Thank you so much, Laurel! I will absolutely check out the Parker Baby Washcloths! Can’t wait to be a boy mom with you. xoxo
Congratulations! So many exciting things ahead. I bought a Pumpable portable pump & Freemie cups to use with it- it’s worked SO well for me! My girlfriend also likes her momcozy wearable pump. ❤️
Thank you, Marlee! Great suggestions for pumps – I will look into those!
