I hope you all have had a great week! This week has brought a lot of change for our family as I quit my part-time job. I am looking for something to fill that void, but also focusing on enjoying this season at home with Emmy because it won’t last forever. Here’s a little recap of our week, and a few things I’ve been loving.
Valentine’s Day Planning
It’s hard to believe February is a little over a week away. This Valentine’s Day, will not technically be Emmy’s first, but it is the first she can really enjoy. I know, I know, one-year-olds don’t really know what holidays are. But, I’m happy for any excuse to be festive, celebrate love and plan something fun for her. I enjoyed putting together a small basket of goodies to have out for her in the morning – here’s the dets:
- Rope basket – I love rope baskets, and have several from Target around the house. They hold and hide toys, beauty supplies, diapers and wipes – you name it. This sweet, white one with rainbow handles was a Dollar Spot find.
- A sweet book – Emmy loves the little, touch and feel board books by DK. She carries them around and loves to turn the pages herself. I picked up an “I love you” one at Target that shows precious animals, kisses, hugs, etc.
- A new sippy cup – Replay makes plastic sippy cups in every color you can imagine. I like that they don’t have designs, and that they are spill-proof. Blush was the perfect color to grab for Valentine’s Day.
- Wooden car – Another Dollar Spot find was a wooden car painted for V-Day. This was $1, and I think she will enjoy pushing it around.
- Mittens – It’s officially snow season, and Emmy didn’t have a pair of mittens, so I thought this would be a cute addition. We will see if she keeps them on, but she definitely needs them for playing outside this time of year.
Mmm…milk
Emmy is now officially on whole milk instead of formula – yay! Emmy has been on formula since she was two-weeks-old, which has been a great journey and choice for us. But, I am happy to replace that cost in the budget with much more affordable milk. The transition overall was easier than I thought it would be. Our doctor recommended doing half formula, half milk until we ran out of formula, and that worked great. She is still drinking milk from her bottle, but is getting used to sippy cups. The hard part of ending formula is making sure she is eating enough food throughout the day. Would you guys be interested in a post on what Emmy eats? I’m always looking for new ideas personally.
A few good reads
Justus and I got each other Kindle Fires for Christmas this year, and we are loving them. I honestly did not have this on my wish list at all until Justus and I started talking about trying to reach each night before bed. Kindle Fires are basically a really simple version of an iPad, at a much lower cost. I use mine to download and read books and magazines, browse the web, read blogs and watch YouTube. This month I read Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch and now I am reading the second book in that series called Love and Luck. I recommend both if you are looking for a girly, feel-good fiction. I also download Good Housekeeping each month – a classic. If you have any good book recommendations, leave them in the comments for me.
A stay-at-home mom staple
One of my favorite Instagram accounts to follow is @doubleshotofsass. This week they posted the cutest, cream, half-zip pullover from Target. I grabbed it have worn it a few times since. If you’re looking for an affordable basic to wear with jeans, leggings, sweats, etc. – grab this!
I hope you have an amazing week! xoxo
