Toddler Girl Room Reveal

Emmy’s room is my favorite room in our house. It’s the first room that felt like home, because it was the first one we poured our hearts into decorating.

The first thing we did in this room was paint it. We went with Intimate White by Sherwin Williams. Although it’s called white, it’s a pale pink. It has a beautiful softness, it’s not to bright or warm.

When we moved into this house, Emmy (age 2) was about to become a big sister and we wanted her room to be a special place. We also took the opportunity of sleeping in a new room to transition her to a big girl bed.

That was a big decision because our choices at the time were to keep her in the crib, which she loved and still slept well in, or to give her a twin bed and pass the crib on to her brother who would be arriving soon. We decided to purchase a twin bed instead of a second crib. Looking back, I am so happy with that decision because the transition was so smooth for Emmy.

We also gave her dresser to Everett because it was large enough to hold a changing pad, and worked so well for the baby stage. At first, it made me emotional to pass on furniture that I had lovingly picked for Emmy before she was born. However, it meant I was able to pick out new things for her and create a big girl room for her to grow into.

Here’s what we picked for this sweet space:

Jenny Lind Twin Bed: This sweet spindle bed is a platform version of the original Jenny Lind Bed, and is half the price. It gives a classic feel to the room, and the height has been perfect for a first bed because it’s not high off the ground, and doesn’t require a box spring.

Transition Tip: When we first transitioned her to this bed, I used foam bumpers from Amazon to keep her cozy and safe. At age three she doesn’t need them anymore, but they were a worthy purchase for the first year in her bed, and I’ll save them for Everett. They go under the fitted sheet, which helps them stay in place.

Jenny Lind Dresser: As I mentioned above, Emmy needed a new dresser too, and I thought a matching spindle one would be perfect. The size has worked great for her petite room, and three drawers have been plenty of space for her underwear, socks, pajamas, leggings, diapers, wipes, and accessories. I hang her dresses, tops and matching outfits in the closet.

I switched out the white dresser knobs for gold, round ones from Ikea.

Scalloped Flush Mount Light: You guys! I got this linen, scalloped flush mount light for Emmy’s room at World Market for $38! It’s so beautiful and it was an absolute steal. I haven’t seen it that price since, but keep an eye out. This is the first house we have owned, so it felt really special to change out lights. I think it made a huge difference in the feel of the room.

Scalloped Curtains: These were a Target find when we quickly needed her windows covered. They have a blackout lining, which really helps with naptimes. I like that they are more of a cream/beige color in person, so they add a little warmth to the room. They are also thick so they pleat nicely at the top when you open them.
